fairweather fan: An individual who supports a given sports team when it is winning but not when they have a losing record.

fan: An individual with a particular appreciation or affiliation to a sport or team.

fanatic: A fan who takes his appreciation to a zealous or over-zealous level.

fantasy sports: Online game in which players act as owners of a team, drafting players from real-life major league teams, setting rosters, making trades and earning points based on their players individual statistics during real-world games.

forgery: The manufacture or alteration of an object in order for it to appear like another of greater worth; common forgeries in sports include autographs.

fraud: The deception one commits when creating and selling a forgery or counterfeit item.

HDTV: High Definition Television; a form of television broadcasting with higher resolution that is popular among sports fans because of its clarity.

Heisman Trophy: An annual award for the most talented college football player as voted by the media and fans. This distinction brings greater value to the memorabilia of athletes who win it.

Hogettes: A group of Washington Redskins fans who dress in ladies clothing and pig snouts to root on their team and raise money for charity.

hooliganism: Unlawful behavior displayed by some sports fans, often when drunk.

jersey: A cotton or polyester knit garment worn by an athlete to distinguish on which team he or she plays.

John Madden: Former NFL coach and current sports analyst who publicized tailgating with his “Madden Cruiser” bus.
